Assia Konsoulova
Assia Konsoulova is head of the Medical Oncology Clinic at the National Cancer Institute, Sofia, Bulgaria. She is also founder and member of the board of the Bulgarian Joint Cancer Network (BJCN) and head of the cluster sector on comprehensive oncology centres, networking and innovation. Her professional career includes specialisations at international cancer centres including the Jules Bordet Institute, Brussels, Belgium; Vienna General Hospital (AKH), Vienna, Austria; and Champalimaud Clinical Cancer Centre, Lisbon, Portugal.
Dr Konsoulova is a holder of national and international honours such as the national MORE-Darzalas award for most significant input into Bulgarian clinical oncology in 2016 and most trusted Bulgarian physician for 2021, 2023 and 2024. She is an auditor for the Accreditation and Designation Programme of the Organisation of European Cancer Institutes (OECI), Bulgarian ambassador for the European School of Oncology (ESO), and a graduate of the College of the European School of Oncology (ESCO). Dr Konsoulova is also a member of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) and American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), chair of Women for Oncology – Bulgaria, member of the Global Alliance, and a member of the ethics committee of the Society of Young Oncologists in Bulgaria.
